Ni no Kuni PC/PS4 remaster and Switch release officially confirmed by Bandai Namco

It wasn’t featured in any E3 conference this year

Last week we got a taste of E3: Ni no Kuni remasters for PC and PS4 and a non-remastered Switch edition leaked. It was a rock solid leak that was a for-sure sort of thing, not “Grinch is in Super Smash Bros.” quality. Well today, after it was devoid of being in any conference (probably because it wouldn’t fit in the Microsoft one), Bandai Namco has confirmed it.

Just to be clear, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is its full name, and that’s coming to PC and PS4. The “original version” is headed to Switch. All of it arrives on September 20. On PC and PS4 you get the option of 1080p and 60 frames-per-second, or “true 4K resolution” at 30 FPS, or 1440p at 60FPS. The Switch rendition is 720p and 30FPS “at home or in handheld mode.”

No content will be changed, as Bandai Namco notes: “The game retains its original dynamic fight system, combining real-time action and turn-based tactical elements, as well as the dozens of locations and hundreds of creatures that comprise the vast universe of Ni no Kuni.” Ni no Kuni was originally released in 2010 as “Dominion of the Dark Djinn” on DS, and it’s very much a different game with the same beats. One year later the “Wrath of the White Witch” storyline and moniker was added in for the PS3 release, greatly expanding the scope of the game.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a fantastic JRPG and one of my favorite in recent memory. I went all the way and 100%-ed it, and outside of one instance of trying to steal a rare item for hours on end for a sidequest (some of you can relate), it was pure joy.
