New video for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom showcases its emergent building potential

Get another look at the things you can do in Tears of the Kingdom

We’ve talked about the potential of the new building and combination mechanics in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in the past: but it’s another thing entirely to see it in action. Although Nintendo gave us the “final” trailer for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom recently, we now have this extra “You Can Do What?” ad to peruse and glean more info from before its May 12, 2023 release.

Like many other Nintendo ads, the crux is showcasing people playing Zelda together, despite the single player focus. Through several scripted sequences, Nintendo shows off some more potential for the game’s core mechanics, including Fusion and Ascend. One player creates an air ship, and another player attempts to cross an aerial track with a makeshift minecart. We also get full confirmation of the Flame Gleeok boss 20 seconds in.

Once we’re at the 50-second mark everything flows back to that recent trailer footage: but there’s some good stuff up through that point. To be frank this is one of the more revealing ads in recent memory, especially for a game as shrouded in mystery as Tears of the Kingdom currently is pre-launch. While you’re fully welcome to go in completely blind, watching it is an option if you’re on an unsatiable binge of Tears of the Kingdom content!
