It’s been quite some time since I’ve ventured into PC gaming territory, but adventure games of the fantasy variety have a way of tugging at my heartstrings. Throw in a jester on an epic journey to discover the meaning of life, as Daedelic Entertainment has done, and I’m pretty much sold — on the idea, at least.
As far as the story goes, The Whispering World is looking to remind us that adventure gaming is still alive and well on the PC. We are in charge of Sadwick, and his wormy companion Spot, who find themselves awakened by a mysterious form who has bigger plans than watching us sleep our lives away, lazily. Traveling through hand-painted backgrounds of beauty, the game promises to take us “through a modern fairy tale with lovingly crafted characters in the style of classic animated films that bring the story to life.”
The point-and-click adventure first showed up on our radar back in April, when an early trailer of the game showed up on YouTube, narrated in German. Daedelic sent us some new screenshots, and I must say, they are eye pleasing. You might want to keep a lookout for this one, come the last quarter of 2008.

The Whispered World: First Screenshots and Details Revealed

fairy-tale elements with melancholic undertones to create an epic
