Ubisoft has announced a December 2 release date for Prince of Persia on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Alongside it will ship the Nintendo DS title, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King.
I’m out of control excited about these games, particularly the next-gen version. I watched my first episode of Sony’s PlayStation Network digital magazine, Qore, yesterday — it had two full-on features about the game and it looks absolutely fantastic. I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet, and I’m not entirely sold on the Prince/Elika ally gameplay. Ubisoft is promising there won’t be any “babysiting,” so I have hope.
I also can’t believe they’re actually releasing the next-gen title simply as Prince of Persia. I figured they’d spice it up a bit. You know, Tom Clancy’s Prince of Persia or something. Maybe next time.

The Prince will Reign December 2, 2008
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – September 18 2008 – Today Ubisoft announced that Prince of Persia will ship December 2, 2008 for the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and PC. Prince of Persia: The Fallen King will also ship simultaneously and exclusively for the Nintendo DS(TM) system.
Prince of Persia opens an entirely new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe in addition to introducing a fresh Illustrative art style, evolved combat system, open world structure and dynamic AI – most notably in the form of the Prince’s powerful ally Elika.
