Perhaps it’s a case of the pictures being tiny and the game looking superior in motion, but I’m not feeling the sprawling city shown in these fresh Pokemon Black/White screenshots. I never thought I’d be one to fear change; here I am, fearing the hell out of our new wonky-looking starter overlords.
It’s almost certainly way too early to judge these games, so I’ll try to contain myself here. The main positive I can see coming out of this drastic shift in style and tone is the slight chance the menus will get a reboot. Jonathan Ross agrees, we don’t want to have to choose “yes” or “no” so many darn times.
And on that note, speeding up the battles would not be a bad idea in my eyes. We still have a long ways to go — the marketing cycle has only barely begun — and there’s really no telling what to expect. All we can do is hope for the best.
