Mazin go!
A new trailer has been debuted on the official social media accounts for the upcoming Mazinger Z anime film. While the new trailer is light on new plot details, or robot action, it did show off the rest of the extended cast for the film. While most were expected, there are a couple of surprises here and there. The trailer also reveals the movie will be debuting next year on January 13.

The cast list, ignoring the previously announced leads, includes:
- Sumire Uesaka as Lisa
- Natsuki Hanae as Shiro Kabuto
- Wataru Takagi as Boss
- Kappei Yamaguchi as Mucha
- Masami Kikuchi as Nuke
- Junpei Morita as Prime Minister Yumi
- Bin Shimada as Dr. Nossori
- Kōzō Shioya as Dr. Sewashi
- Unshō Ishizuka as Dr. Hell
There are a couple of standout names in the list. Natsuki Hanae for instance is the voice for Alm from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and for Taichi in the recent Digimon Adventure Tri movies, while Wataru Takagi was the old voice for Zangief and the current voice for Hugo from Street Fighter. Out of the entire cast however, you’ve probably heard Unshō Ishizuka before, as he is the voice actor for Heihachi Mishima from Tekken.
I’m digging the voice work and new designs that have gone into the characters. Although I can’t say I remember Lisa from a previous Mazinger Z iteration? I guess she must be a new character, but I hope her being built up as a major player doesn’t take the spotlight from Koji and Sayaka. However, I really appreciate that Boss has had his design mostly left alone, as he wouldn’t be the same without it.
