About six months ago we posted a gallery of gorgeous, absolutely striking art depicting what some classic videogames would look like if they were redone with a new, high-def, stylish sheen. Actually, words can’t even describe it — you have to click here and check it out. Be prepared to be blown away.
Well, after all these months, the artist Orioto has compiled a new collection of genius. And, once again, I am rubbing my naked body all over the printed out images like a glob of Silly Putty on a Family Circus panel. Ink stains, be damned!
Just like last time, I had a tough time choosing which dazzling piece to use as the header image for the post — it was down to Out of This World, Lemmings, Mega Man 5, Ecco the Dolphin, and Super Mario World. Instead of making a dramatic Sophie’s Choice, I decided to put all the game names in a hat and pick one. Yup, I’m not kidding. As you can see, Super Mario World won!
But you can check out all the others — including such classics as Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, and Castlevania — in the below gallery. Or, even better, you can check out Orioto’s deviantART page. The guy is obviously super talented — let’s support him!
And to address a little controversy that popped up in the comments last time: I know a lot of these are more stylistic pieces of art rather than true depictions of what a high-def remake would look like, but does it really matter? The work is stunning! Let’s just all hold hands and enjoy, shall we?
