New gameplay clips of Braid for XBLA: Familiar never felt so fresh

Looking at gameplay from the indie-developed Braid is like hearing a beautifully orchestrated rendition of The Final Countdown. The song was pretty awesome to begin with, but now? Holy crap. 

There’s nothing incredibly new about it, per se. You jump, stomp on monsters, climb, and to be sure, most of what you’ll see is a direct homage to some of retro gaming’s finest. Throw in a bit of time manipulation and some clever gameplay mechanics, however, and what you’re left with is nothing short of brilliant. 

Enjoy the footage, and hit the jump for another video. Braid is scheduled to hit XBLA sometime this year.
