New Devil Survivor video hints at battle system

Recommended Videos

Last time we talked about Atlus’ DS RPG Devil Survivor, we pointed to some videos showing the characters and setting, but there was nothing to clue us in to what actual battle would be like. Is it turn-based, or this a strategy RPG?

Today, the official Web site dropped a couple of new videos, and one shows a very quick example of what game play will be like. It looks like a blend of RPG battle types. The characters seem to move on an isometric overhead-viewed map, and there are clear indications of a grid. But when battle occurs, things look more like a standard turn-based affair. A Pixie gets her ass kicked, mentions something about a “contract,” and the video ends. Not much, eh?

The video after the jump shows Tokyo after the destruction begins.

Japanese gamers will be playing Devil Survivor come early next year. I’m sure Atlus will bring this over for U.S. fans. This is already looking too good to pass up.
