Don’t expect Naughty Dog to support the cooperative component of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves right out of the gates.

Speaking to Eurogamer, designer Justin Richmond revealed that the studio is focusing on adding new stuff to the competitive component with downloadable content first, as well as making it clear that co-op DLC will be rough going.

“What you’ll probably see is more of the competitive type: more maps, more modes, stuff like that,” Richmond says. “The co-op stuff is hugely time-intensive and the size of it — the physical download size — is huge, so that’s probably not an option.”

On the bright side, Naughty Dog plans to be “working on the DLC stuff for the next while,” making us believe Uncharted 2 will get mad love as it ages. And judging by the feedback we’ve seen from the demos and betas, it seems as though people are hungry for the multiplayer component. Why not add more to it?

“Naughty Dog does a really good job of defining things, and I think no one’s really done a definitively amazing co-op experience and I think we can do that, and it’s something that at some point we’ll tackle,” he told Eurogamer. “If I have my say, then that’s what we’d do.”
