Namco is digging up the classics, dusting them off, and cleaning them up for re-release under their new brand, Namco Generations. These digitally distributed games will come to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade with high-definition graphics and enhanced gameplay.

First among the upcoming retro revivals is PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX, coming to XBLA on November 17th and PSN on November 23rd. Additional titles in development include Galaga Legions DX and Aero-Cross, a reimagining of Namco’s 1985 arcade game, Metro-Cross. More classic franchise revival announcements can be expected throughout 2011, says Namco Bandai.

The games released under this brand will also serve as a sort of news portal. Namco Generations titles will be updated regularly with Namco Generation News, a newsletter that allows developers to reach out to the community with behind-the-scenes information, insider tips, and other special announcements. Players will be able to access the latest community news through the main menu of any Namco Generations title.
