MW3 devs introduce new unlimited double XP method, but it doesn’t come free

The extra XP will cost you some cash.

Modern Warfare 3 added a cosmetic bundle to the CoD store that offers double XP and double weapon XP, leading players to call out the devs for questionable monetization practices.

Activision added the Killer Operator bundle to the MW3 store. It’s the first cosmetic item with a party skin bonus, which awards double XP and double weapon XP when you play together in parties of at least two players while wearing the operator skin. Players will receive a double battle pass XP bonus in a party of three or more users. So in theory, players should be able to get unlimited double XP as long, as they have a part of two,

Before this addition, the only way to earn double XP was during a promotional weekend or by using a token that only lasted for a limited time. CharlieIntel explained the new feature on Twitter, and it was met with an outpour of disgust in the comments over Activision putting the XP boost behind a paywall. The Killer operator bundle costs 1600 CoD points, equivalent to $10.

“This is the new DMZ bonus shit,” CoD leaker TheGhostOfHope responded. In 2023, Activision released a series of operator bundles offering DMZ bonuses. If players had a skin equipped, they could start a match with anything from a self-revive kit, UAV, larger backpack, or more armor, depending on which option they purchased. And to make matters even worse there was also an upgrade in the game mode that can only be unlocked by purchasing an operator bundle. We haven’t seen anything quite to that level in Modern Warfare 3’s iteration of Warzone, but players fear the worst.

“Pay to win,” a second user added. This bundle doesn’t necessarily give players an unfair advantage over other players, but it is a shortcut that not everyone will have access to. This might just be the tip of the iceberg for what we see added to the store in terms of advantages and boosts.
