Mutant Mudds composer delivers a fresh chiptune remix

How are you enjoying the Mutant Mudds soundtrack? Shower any and all praise on the game’s composer, Troupe Gammage, who totally nailed that pure 8-bit sound.

Troupe is also the front man for a Texas indie rock group called SPEAK. Amazingly, he managed to compose most of the Mutant Mudds OST while his band was on tour. Hey, if Damon Albarn can record an entire Gorillaz album on a friggin’ iPad, Troupe can make chiptune magic in the back of a van!

Desiring to combine both branches of his work, Troupe made an NES-style mix of SPEAK’s “Carrie.” Being able to capture the original sound using only five channels was a challenge that he happily met, and now you can check it out too. You can download the song from this link, or you can check out the embed after the jump. I’ve also embedded the original “Carrie” video for comparison. Talk about a sexy voice!
