Musically inclined fans of game audio may want to check out SquareSound’s musical arrangement competition. The prize: two VIP tickets to the upcoming Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert in Chicago on March 1, 2008. Wow.
December 2007 marked the 20-year anniversary of the Final Fantasy series, and composer Nobuo Uematsu is responsible for most of the series’ amazing music. The Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert highlights this amazing music and makes its US premiere in March. It will be performed by the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and will be conducted by Arnie Roth. The two hour concert will even feature the famed Final Fantasy composer himself.
Those lucky enough to land VIP tickets will recieve a Distant Worlds music CD and program, prime seats, and the ability to attend an exclusive meet-and-greet session with Mr. Uematsu after the concert. Too bad those tickets are already sold out!
If you have the musical chops, you can win two VIP tickets for yourself. Contestants need to submit a new, original arrangement of a Nobuo Uematsu composition by the deadline of Friday, February 8, 2008. Check out the SquareSound Web page for more details.
Ah. In hindsight, I would’ve loved to not post this and give myself a better shot at the prize. *face palm*
