Speculation continues regarding the rumour that Activision will revisit the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise in the near future, as insiders from both the video game and skateboarding worlds have made mention of such a project already in development.

The first word came (via GamesRadar) from journalist and living rumour mill Sabi, who tweeted that a contact had informed them that classic PlayStation titles Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 have had remake prototypes created and bandied around internally. Sabi states that they sat on this information for sometime, as they were unsure as to whether said remakes were definitely going into production. Liam Robertson of DidYouKnowGaming? also noted this same info in a recent podcast.

The story gathered further momentum, with the discovery of comments from pro-skater Lizzie Armanto, recorded during her recent appearance on podcast The Nine Club. In the interview, Armanto was asked about her previous appearance in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, to which she noted “[Hawk’s] coming out with another one, and I’ll be in that too”. In a chin-stroking twist, this comment has since been edited out of some recordings of the episode.

As always, all of the above is to be taken with a grain of salt, as nothing official has been announced, or even hinted at. Tony Hawk and Activision parted ways when their partnership expired in in 2015, but that doesn’t mean a new collaboration is impossible.

Either way, to have the once-beloved brand pop up a number of times in quick succession offers some hope that this memorable franchise, which was a staple of PlayStation all-nighters, may be preparing to… erm… kick-flip half-pipe grind once again… or something.
