Multiplayer is coming to Don’t Starve

Don’t Starve is a pretty fantastic game overall that’s been supported by many content updates and a large expansion — and now it’s getting multiplayer. Klei Entertainment has just confirmed that a free expansion will be coming called “Don’t Starve Together,” and it will be arriving in alpha form in summer 2014.

In my mind this doesn’t take anything away from the core survival principle of the game, because it’s completely optional. If the current order of operations is correct, the PC will get the update as soon as it’s done, and the PS4 will get it a few weeks/months down the line (although no PS4 version has been confirmed yet).

When the expansion hits, the game will rise to $19.99 in price.
