So you liked Mount & Blade: Warband, but perhaps you wished it had firearms? Good news, the sequel to Warband has just that! The upcoming Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword will also let you wield muskets and pistols as sidearms for you hero, rather than being stuck with musketmen infantry and the like.

New features include the aforementioned firearms introduction to combat, battle formations, and enhanced siege mechanics — blow up the wall, bribe an officer, or poison the well or the food supply to get past defenses. More multiplayer has been added to the existing formula as well, with 7 new multiplayer maps and a new multiplayer mode called Captain. This mode throws 16 players together with each a squad of soldiers.

Finally, the setting is based off the 1884 novel “With Fire and Sword” by Nobel-prize winner Henry Sienkiewicz. Yes, THE Henry Sienkiewicz. The trailer also shows that Poland is under threat by a guy named Gustav Adolf, which doesn’t bode well for the Polish villages in the game.

Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword is due for a Q1 2011 release. While you wait for a firm release date, feast your eyes on this wall of images.
