Environments come into play now

Just last week, Ed Boon announced Mortal Kombat X, but at the time we only had a few teaser images and a pre-rendered trailer to go on. At its E3 press conference today, Sony unveiled the first gameplay footage of the next title in the bloody fighting franchise, and it is pretty brutal.

Making a return are the X-ray shots of bone-smashing moves, but there are some novel elements shown too. Fighters can now interact with the environment in more meaningful ways than before. In the trailer, we see them swinging on tree branches, then later ripping the branches down to use as weapons. Of course, the result is a bloody mess.
