Mortal Kombat X Fatal 8 tournament ends with a bang

Good? Bad? I’m the guy with the gun

Dominique “cR|Sonic Fox” McLean shot and stabbed his way through the competition to become the first official Mortal Kombat X tournament winner this weekend. Sonic Fox dominated the ESL hosted Fatal 8 tournament as killer cowboy killer Erron Black, demonstrating why it’s smart to bring a gun to a fistfight.

The pre-release tournament invited several Mortal Kombat and Injustice veterans to demonstrate what high-level play will be like in NetherRealm’s latest fighter. Even with limited time to practice, the competitors put on one hell of a show, with plenty of tense matches and flashy Fatality and Brutality finishers to go around. While the final bout might have come down between former Evo champion Carl “RZR|PerfectLegend” White’s Kung Lao and Sonic Fox’s Erron Black, my favorite fight of the series was when PerfectLegend squared off against Malik “MIT” Terry’s frightening Scorpion. It is a crazy series of lightning fast bouts that demonstrate both players ability to adapt and adjust their strategy to outmatch their opponent.

I was particularly thrilled to see Quan Chi and Jax, two of my early character choices, put in respectable efforts. They might not have won, but they certainly pulled their own. Perhaps my low tier curse has finally been lifted?
