There’s two related Mortal Kombat news items here. The first is that PDP has announced a controller for Mortal Kombat. The Mortal Kombat Fight Stick is an arcade-style controller that comes with custom artwork, and will only be available as part of the upcoming Mortal Kombat Tournament Edition, or in a very limited web sale at PDP’s website. The controller sounds nice from their description:

The inner workings of the Mortal Kombat Fight Stick are composed of high quality arcade parts from Suzo Happ and are easily accessed without the need of any tools. Inside the joystick base, all parts and wires are protected by a unique plastic shield emblazoned with the Mortal Kombat logo, and there is room to store cables and a copy of the game. The underside of the Mortal Kombat Fight Stick is lined with velvet-wrapped memory foam for the comfort of players who hold the stick on their lap, while rubberized feet at the bottom corners will prevent the stick from sliding when placed on a table or similar surface.

There’s also a tournament coming up in Las Vegas that will use these controllers. Going down on May 14-15 at Bally’s Hotel and Casino, contestants will fight for their part of $21,000 in prizes by playing the game. You can sign up to be notified when registration for the tournament begins here at the tourney webpage.
