TechCrunch has heard from its own sources regarding the Amazon console, and they have quite a bit more info to share. The hardware Amazon is building could be powered by a Qualcomm MPQ chip, which is the Snapdragon processor line that’s used in smart TVs and set-top box devices already. They speculate that this console is the same one that Wall Street Journal reported on before, suggesting that Amazon is looking to put out a media box that offers games, music, and movie services.

Additionally, TechCrunch has heard from multiple sources that Amazon has approached developers to create exclusive games for their console, on top of all the third-party offerings.

Amazon is definitely working on something. If so, it will certainly give Roku, Ouya, GameStick, and others a run for their money. The exception being if Google’s own rumored console turn out to be true. That, and if Apple actually decides to enter the ring as well.
