Warner Bros. has confirmed the stars of the upcoming Mortal Kombat live-action shorts, which are now filming in Vancouver.

Some of the faces will look familiar, if you’ve seen Kevin Tancharoen’s unofficial short. Star Trek: Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan will be starring as Sonya Blade, with Michael Jai White returning as Jax and 300 actor Darren Shahlavi stepping in as Kano. The shorts will be directed by Tancharoen, who turned heads with his unofficially, dark and violent take on the series a few months back.

“It’s extremely gratifying to have such talented actors playing these iconic roles,” he says. “They will bring the essence of Mortal Kombat to life and gamers will be deeply immersed in the game’s universe.”

The shorts are schedule to air this spring, likely alongside or leading up to the April 19 release of the new Mortal Kombat fighter for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
