Monster Hunter XX Switch trailer drops, looks a lot like 3DS version

Releasing this summer

Gotta love these late night reveals. One day after it confirmed Monster Hunter XX will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, Capcom dropped its first trailer which you can watch below. Anyone expecting it to actually push the capabilities of the Switch might be disappointed to find the game doesn’t look worlds better than the 3DS version.

Graphics aside, I am digging it. The last time I really got into Monster Hunter was back on the Wii, so I’ve really only associated this series with the home console experience. After years on the small screen, it would be nice to murder some dragons on my big-ass Samsung. Players will be able to transfer data from the 3DS to the Switch and it looks like there will be crossplay between the versions.

Monster Hunter XX for the Switch will release August 25 in Japan. So far, there is no word of a western release for either version of the game, but E3 is right around the corner. Fingers crossed.
