Monster Hunter Tri out today, trailer pretty epic

Recommended Videos

I haven’t been paying any attention to Monster Hunter Tri. I know that the series is popular in Japan and that there’s a fair bit of anticipation — or at least marketing — for it in North America. And that’s about the extent to which I’ve allowed myself to care.

This launch trailer for the title is changing that in a pretty big way. I think there’s a nostalgia factor at work, as it reminds me of trailers for a lot of RPGs around the turn of the century (which is totally as much fun to type as I thought it would be). There’s the big, sweeping passes over beautiful fantasy landscapes, huge monsters and then the idyllic shots of people lounging about. Amazing.

So, who’s geared up to get their copies today?
