How to get different shield skins in Monopoly GO

You can unlock new shield skins by participating in events and minigames, completing sticker albums, and placing the top spot in a tournament. Tournaments often give shield skins as a top leaderboard prize, while seasonal Partners events, tile-digging minigames, and main events regularly offer them grand prizes. You can also get tokens and emojis through these events.

Alternatively, you can rarely find shields as a weekly quick-win objective prize. Although uncommon compared to sticker packs and emojis, it’s worth watching your weekly prize bar to see if a shield appears. If one appears, log on daily and complete your quick wins objectives until you unlock the shield tier.

Another common way to find shield skins is through minigame event rewards. More specifically, you’ll want to look for digging events like Egyptian and Galactic Treasures alongside recurring minigames like Peg-E’s Prize Drop event.

Lastly, shield skins occasionally appear in exclusive shop bundles as part of promotional or charity packs. The main example is the Heroic Red, a shield skin available for purchasing Monopoly GO’s Games for Red bundle. Currently, this is the only skin available for real money, but this may change in the future.

When you get a new shield in Monopoly GO, the game will ask if you want to use it immediately or send it to your Showroom. You can change it later by taking the following steps:

  1. Select the three lines in the top corner of your Monopoly GO screen.
  2. Tap on My Showroom.
  3. Go to your shields section.
  4. Equip the shield you want to use.

In the Showroom, you’ll see every shield, emoji, and board token you have unlocked, which you can change anytime. If you enjoy cosmetics and like changing things up, you can freely enter this menu and look through your options.

How do shields work in Monopoly GO?

Shields are a defensive feature in Monopoly GO that allows you to protect your landmarks against shutdowns from other players. Whenever someone lands on a railroad tile and activates a shutdown, there’s a chance they’ll land on your map and target your landmarks. Without the shield, you’d lose more money per attack and have to pay a fee to repair it.

You can only have a limited number of shields at a time, which you can increase by raising your net worth. If you’re out of shields, land on a shield tile on your Monopoly board to regain shields equal to the number of dice you roll at once. You’ll get your dice back if that number exceeds your maximum shield slots.
