MonkeyPaw Games to bring ‘real Japanese games’ to US

Recommended Videos

There is a lot of finicky business in bringing Japanese games to the Western market. Between localizing, formatting, and marketing, an especially niche title may very well just wallow out here. Which is a shame when we are missing out on crazy stuff like this. So what’s a little weeaboo gamer in need to do? Well, MonkeyPaw games hopes to solve that problem.

According to Gamasutra, MonkeyPaw Games has been founded by a former CEO of Hudson, John Greiner, and promises to bring to Western gamers “real Japanese games,” as Greiner says. He is also quoted as saying that plenty of Japanese titles that are appealing to American audiences are not brought over, and that “companies tend to underestimate the fervor that fans posses toward cultural idiosyncratic art.” As for what titles MonkeyPaw Games will publish, and when, is still in the air, but we are expected to hear more about this during E3.
