Modern Warfare 3 logo, and what’s Call of Duty Elite?

[Update: A Kotaku tipster has sent the site potential cover art for the upcoming Modern Warfare 3, which matches what we see in the above logo. It also features a man holding a gun, which is absolutely shocking.]

While it hasn’t been officially announced, we’re expecting Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to be revealed any day now. While we wait for the official details and first glimpse of the game in action, have this to whet your appetite: a logo.

The graphic comes out of a leak that sprung on the Electric Hydra forums, where the logo makes its first public appearance. The poster also added an image of something called “Call of Duty: Elite,” which we suspect is somehow related to Activision’s premium online Call of Duty “Project Beachhead” service.

“This platform will include a suite of services and content plan that will unite and ignite the community like never before,” said CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg on the company’s recent investors call when speaking of Beachhead. “The platform will support in-game integration and bring online experiences and console play together for the first time.”

Both “Project Beachhead” (or should we just go ahead and say Call of Duty: Elite?) and Modern Warfare 3 are expected to be officially revealed ahead of E3 this year.
