MLB: The Show: Quick Count, Player Lock make games faster

Optional, of course

If you want to be able to breeze through games more quickly, MLB 14: The Show has two new options. Quick Count starts off every at bat in an advanced count (3-0, 1-2, etc.), partly based on the pitcher/batter matchup. Not a bad option if you get fed up waiting for strikes or suck at taking walks.

Player Lock allows you to restrict yourself to acting as one player on the team, simulating any plays your player is not involved with. You can use it in any mode but Road to the Show, so if you want to run through a season as only your favorite player on a team, you can. Plus you get the more personal fielding perspective, which is fun.

Not sure how often I’d use these, but they’re nice options. Fast Play presentation is probably my favorite, though, turning off extraneous presentation elements and giving you more playtime. It’s why I liked MLB 12: The Show on the Vita so much — it couldn’t fit all the presentation elements anyway.

I really want the baseball season to start.
