Miyamoto muses on some new juicy first-party prospects

Shigeru Miyamoto recently had a conversation with Edge, and I think most of you Nintendo fans are going to want to hear what he had to say. Sometime last year, it was revealed that Miyamoto would love to remake the original A Link to the Past (my favorite Zelda!), but now he’s changing his tune a bit.

Now, Miyamoto is saying he kind of wants the game to be more of an original project — “I think I’d be even more interested in creating something new maybe based on, or starting from, A Link To The Past. I think it’s important to bring some really new software.” Miyamoto went on to say that it will depend entirely upon which Director has time for the project, stating that Directors he wasn’t “100% confident in” would be better suited for a remake rather than a new project.

The other major takeaway from this conversation is the possibility of F-Zero on the Wii-U. As we all know, F-Zero fans have been salivating for years at the prospect of a new title, and it looks like that Pavlovian sensation is about to kick in once again. Miyamoto had this to say regarding the futuristic franchise — “Maybe with future hardware, with Wii U coming up, maybe we could create something that does make sense, either as a smaller game, or a fully fledged title.” So…keep on waitin’, folks — I’m in line with you!
