Miyamoto comments on Wii Music review scores

In an interview with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, Edge asked for the legendary designer’s response to some of the poor reviews Wii Music received from the gaming press.

Miyamoto says that he thinks that we’re just now getting to the point where people are getting around to playing Wii Music for the first time, probably alone. Perhaps he’s trying to say that joining a game with multiple players is more fun when he said that he thinks that “there is more to playing games than just playing by yourself.”

He also states that he hopes more people will come to understand Wii Music‘s unique approach, but admits that the appeal of the title is limited.

“I really don’t think that it will have the immediate and universal appeal around the world at all,” he said.

It seems he’s taking some of the poor reviews in stride: “I really appreciate that the gaming media has a different view of anything as new as Wii Music today – it’s [sic] simply symbolises how different and unique Wii Music is.”
