Electronic Arts has faith in Mirror’s Edge despite lackluster sales. The publisher’s European head honcho recently confirmed a sequel is in the works and that a small development team at DICE is currently working on the property.
Speaking with VideoGamer at E3 2009, EA Europe’s Patrick Soderlund said, “You’ll see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I’m excited about what we do.”
“Mirror’s Edge was a risky move,” he said before dropping the Mirror’s Edge 2 bombshell. “It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.”
We stand behind any new IP that can make people vomit. Let’s hope Mirror’s Edge 2 raises that bar: the world needs a game that can make eyes bleed, or better yet, cause people to catch the flu.
