Mojang just announced the return of one of the most helpful mobs Minecraft has ever seen. As of today, you can playtest the Copper Golem and its matching copper tools, letting you experience the joys of chest organization while appreciating its adorableness.

The Copper Golem first appeared during Minecraft’s Mob Vote 2021, where it and the Glare lost against the Allay. Forgotten by the community for some time, it’s now available in the game as part of a beta testing update in Bedrock Edition, with Java receiving the update sometime in the near future.

The addition of the Copper Golem is arriving alongside copper chests, tools, and armor as part of the Vibrant Visuals update. Copper is now a tier between stone and iron, making it a handy resource to obtain early in a new playthrough before you start farming for iron, diamonds, and Netherite.

The Copper Golem itself also has one main perk: item management. As you toss items into copper chests, it’ll take those items and organize them into empty chests or those that have a copy of that resource. In short, if you throw some diamonds into it, the Copper Golem will bring them to any chest that already has diamonds in it. If you don’t have a diamond chest, it’ll put them into any empty one you have.

Every copper item coming to the Vibrant Visuals update will also oxidize over time, giving you several base decorating options. That way, if you want a bunch of orange chests mixed with green-blue armor and an orange golem, you’ll have a chance to customize everything however you’d like.

At the time of writing, the Vibrant Visuals update is only available on Minecraft Bedrock Edition. There’s currently no word on when it’ll arrive on Java Edition.
