When does Minecraft 1.21 come out?

As of this writing, Minecraft Version 1.21 does not have an official release date. However, we are getting one step closer to the launch date reveal, now that Mojang Studios has announced the update’s name: Tricky Trials.

Based on the timeline of past Minecraft updates, Version 1.21 could likely launch in June 2024. We’ve seen this happen before with Caves & Cliffs, Wild, and Nether updates, all releasing in June through the years. The Minecraft Live 2023 Recap post also indicates that the 1.21 update will come out “midway through 2024.”

Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but a June release seems highly likely for now. Fortunately, most Minecraft 1.21 features are already available in SnapShot and Preview. Although these are beta versions, they provide sneak peeks into upcoming mechanics.

All new features for Minecraft 1.21

Minecraft 1.21 adds a few new elements to the game, with the following content:

  • Armadillo mob
  • Wolf armor
  • Trial Chambers
  • Tuff and Copper blocks
  • Trial Spawners
  • Crafter
  • The Breeze and Wind Charges
  • The Vault
  • Bogged mobs

The Mob Vote 2023 event unleashed the Armadillo in the savanna biomes. Compared to other mobs, they are rather shy when approaching them. So, in this case, slow and steady wins the race.

Armadillo drops Scutes used for crafting protective wolf armor. Instead of killing the cute creature for the material, use a brush on it.

If you’re looking for another challenge, the Trial Chamber brings a new adventure deep underground. Discover these locations to defeat the hostile mob, The Breeze, who uses a deadly wind attack. The undead Bogged mobs will also linger in the chambers and swamp biomes, equipped with poisonous arrows.

Two new Minecraft 1.21 updates have been revealed, including rewards from the Wind Charge and the Vault. Diving into Trial Chambers provides more valuables from Spawners and the new blocks. However, watch out for hidden traps along the way, or else you may end up depleting the heart meter.

Back on the surface, we have the latest Crafter Utility Block for automatic crafting. The material makes it easy to produce stacks of items rather than doing them individually. Additional features are expected to come as the Minecraft 1.21 release date approaches, giving us much more to look forward to.
