This task involved decoding lots of riddles and finding various hidden items around the village. It’s certainly one of the tougher ones to work through, so here’s a complete quest walkthrough for Mimsy Were the Borogoves in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete Mimsy Were the Borogoves in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To finish the Mimsy Were the Borogoves quest in DDV, you need to solve Alice’s poem and find the treasure. This quest is a full-on scavenger hunt complete with plenty of vague clues, so it’s easy to get stuck on any part of it. Here’s a full breakdown of everything you need to do in this quest.

Search for something buried near a place of sunbaked pleasure

The first clue asks you to search for something buried near a place of sunbaked pleasure, which refers to the Dazzle Beach biome. You’re looking for a sparkling digging spot with a Poem in a Bottle sticking up out of it.

This spot spawns right next to the ramp that leads from the Dazzle Beach biome into the Glade of Trust. Equip your Royal Shovel and use it to dig the Poem in a Bottle up. Talk to Alice once you have it to pass it over to her so she can review the next clue.

Find a dark cavern with mystic lights

The next clue tells you to find a dark cavern with mystic lights, which is the Mystical Cave at Dazzle Beach. If you don’t remember where to find it from previous quests, head to the northeast end of this biome.

There are two caves over in this area, but the one you’re looking for has a pedestal with a light blue glowing rock on it right by the entrance. This cave also isn’t marked with a unique icon on the map, while the other one has a house icon on it since it used to be Ursula’s home. Head inside the Mystical Cave to progress to the next step.

Search the Mystical Cave for the Mome Raths

Once you’re inside the cave, you need to track down some Mome Raths. These are the same small colorful creatures you followed around the Alice in Wonderland Realm during the Wonders of Wonderland quest.

The Mome Raths are on the second level down, blocking your path forward. Talk to Alice about what to do, and she’ll tell you they aren’t real living Mome Raths like those in Wonderland, but she knows exactly how you can get past them.

Water each group of False Mome Raths

There are several groups of False Mome Raths blocking your way down to the bottom of the Mystical Cave, so equip your Royal Watering Can to get past them. In total, there are 10 groups of them throughout the entire cave, so you may need to water them this many times. You can also water more than one at a time for those that are close together.

Retrieve the Poem in a Bottle from the water

Once you’re at the bottom, switch to your Royal Fishing Rod and use it to fish another Poem in a Bottle out of the sparkling spot in the water. There’s only one fishing spot in the pond, and it has a bottle sticking out of it, so it should be easy to locate. Give the Poem in a Bottle to Alice once you’ve caught it so you can discuss the next clue.

Search for the Jabberwock in its house of bark in a wooded yard

The next clue tasks you with searching for the Jabberwock in its house of bark in a wooded yard. This refers to a creature with glowing yellow eyes hidden inside a wooden log that spawns in the Forest of Valor biome near Elsa’s house. It appears in the very top left corner of this area.

If you’re having trouble finding it, be sure to check behind any furniture or greenery you have placed nearby. Mine was hidden behind a house and some flower bushes I had placed in this corner, so it took me a long time to find it.

Talk to Alice about the Jabberwock once you find the hiding spot. You need to find a way to get the treasure from inside the log, but to do so, you have to come up with a way to make the Jabberwock leave.

Craft Wonderland Candles

The Jabberwock is known for hating all forms of light, so you need to craft six Wonderland Candles to get it to come out of hiding. You can find the crafting recipe for this item in the Furniture category, and it requires you to gather five different materials.

MaterialQuantityHow to get
Tinkering PartsThreeCraft using two Iron Ingots.
Coal OreNineMainly mined from rock nodes around the valley. Sometimes sold at Kristoff’s Stall and dropped after removing Night Thorns, Splinters of Fate, and Inkies.
Yellow Daisy12Found around the wild in the Peaceful Meadow.
GlassSixCraft using Sand and Coal Ore.
Red Bell Flower10Found around the wild in the Forest of Valor.

Place the Wonderland Candles near where the Jabberwock is hiding

Once you have the Wonderland Candles, head back to the Jabberwock’s log. Open Furniture mode and place all six Wonderland Candles down around the hiding spot. As soon as you do, the Jabberwock will flee so you can grab what’s inside the log.

Interact with the log to grab a Kaleidoscope, then give it to Alice to share the treasure you found. She’s not sure why she hid this item away before the Forgetting, so she needs time to ponder what it might mean. For now, though, your adventure is finished as the entire Mimsy Were the Borogoves quest is complete.
