Miitomo’s US launch date finally confirmed

March 31

After Japan has had the app for over a week, Nintendo of America confirmed to Destructoid this morning that Miitomo is being made available in the US on March 31.

The game is free-to-play, and is supported by microtransactions and other social features that net players bonuses for the new My Nintendo system (also launching on March 31), which took over for Club Nintendo. You can create a new Mii, or import your previous creation using a QR code from the 3DS or Wii U. Finally, the Nintendo.com eShop is being enhanced with an expanded catalog (good!).

All told things have gone rather smoothly for Nintendo so far, as the app has jumped to the top of the charts in Japan. Let’s see if it has the same impact over in the west. On the changes to the eShop — it took them long enough, but they’re finally catching up to the rest of the market.
