Microsoft apparently up MechWarrior 4 release

Unless Microsoft decides to surprise developer MekTek, there’s little reason to sit and wait for the free release of Mech Warrior 4 this afternoon. The developer is stating over its Web site that Microsoft is “holding up” the release of the game and the team isn’t sure when Microsoft will push it through the pipeline.

On an similar gloomy note, the statement adds that the studio is experiencing financial difficulties because of its Microsoft-required insurance policy. MekTek is urging all who download the recently released free mission pack — which requires a disc that is no longer in production — to donate five bucks to offset server costs. We think downloaders should also send the studio an Easter basket, because damn, they can’t be feeling good right now.
