MGS: Revengeance has a killer first week in Japan

Over 330,000 copies sold

Famitsu has last week’s sales numbers for Japan, and there we see that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance comes out on top with a really nice first-week run. Konami and Platinum Games’ excellent cyberninja slashfest moved a healthy 335,791 copies in the Land of the Rising Sun last week. This is a number that compares favorably to the first week sales numbers of the last couple of numbered Metal Gear Solid titles.

Last week was a good week to come out for them. None of the other new releases last week were that big of a deal (Desert Kingdom, anyone?), and mega 3DS titles like Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden and the new Animal Crossing have had some time to cool off, though the latter hit the 3 million sold mark last week.

Congrats, Platinum Games. I expect that we’ll see your latest continue RISING up the charts in the coming weeks.
