Metroid: Other M videos show the game’s two sides

Metroid: Other M comes out in about 2 weeks. Excited? Scared? Both? Me too.

These two videos have me feeling a little more secure about the game. Between the two of them, I think we get a good idea of where Other M‘s priorities lie. The video above is an off-scree capture from an event in Australia, where audience members were presented with recap of the Metroid-story so far, narrated by Samus. I’m still hoping for a Japanese voice option, but still, I’m impressed with the level of care the game has for the series’s past.

The video below (a GameTrailers exclusive) shows a variety of the weapons, tools, and enemies from the game. Seeing the return of the wave beam, grappling beam, morph ball bomb puzzles, and speed booster-assisted super jumps has me feeling alright. That’s all stuff that you can only get it a Metroid game.

Even if my fears are realized and the game doesn’t live up to Metroid‘s illustrious history, it at least got the arsenal right.
