Metal Gear Survive beta begins next week, new gameplay footage surfaces

Next week will see the launch of an open beta for Metal Gear Survive, Konami’s first foray into the melodramatic military series post-Kojima. Though it will be live on consoles, there is unfortunately no beta for the PC platform.

Three missions and two maps will be available to demo, as will the game’s co-op mode. Any save progress will not be carried over in the main game, but participating in the beta will bag you some exclusive items when the game launches next month.

It has also been noted that PS4 players will not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to join the action, however Xbox players will require a Live subscription. Huh. The beta begins Thursday, January 18 and will run until Sunday, January 21.

Metal Gear Survive launches on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on February 20 in North America and February 22 in Europe. Konami provided IGN with six minutes of gameplay footage, which you can check out below.
