Metal Gear Solid will be 30 FPS across the board in the Master Collection

Konami reveals the expected frame rates for the upcoming compilation

In just shy of a month, we’ll be able to jump into the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which brings Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater — as well as the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and Snake’s Revenge — to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC.

But, now we know what frame rate each of the Metal Gear Solid titles will have, and it says a lot about the experience fans of the series can expect with this collection.

To start, the original Metal Gear Solid will run at a consistent 1920×1080, 30 fps across the gamut of consoles, except for the handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch, which will run at 1280×720, 30 fps.

When it comes to Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3, they’ll run at a semi-consistent 1920×1080, 60 fps on all consoles except for — big surprise — the Switch, where it’ll run at 1280×720, 30 fps in handheld mode and 1920×1080, 30 fps in docked mode.

The chart does make it clear that the versions included in the Master Collection “have been up-converted to display at these resolutions.” But it seems like the HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 are what we’re getting here, so if you have played those versions, you have some idea of what to expect in the Master Collection.
