Hey, I have some hot deets for you guys. Guitar Hero: Metallica has music that you pretend to play with plastic instruments. The majority of the tunes are from some no-name metal band named “Metallicrax” or whatever. That’s hot stuff right there. I picked it up at a preview event in San Francisco where I got some nice hands-on time with the game. (And a link to the vignette shown after the break)
I also learned that Guitar Hero: Metallica won’t support downloadable content other than the Death Magnetica tracks you may have already purchased for use with Guitar Hero: World Tour. The Wii and PlayStation 2 versions of the game have a selection of three songs from Death Magnetica.
While the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are short in DLC, they won’t be in online functionality. You’ll be able to play all your favorite modes online including Pro Face-off, Face-off and cooperative Band play. My only fear of the online play is from my impression of the songs — they’re really long. I can imagine players quitting early in songs like “Enter Sandman” or “Master of Puppets” (shown in video) if they screw up an early solo. But that’s a silly fear, right?
