Media Molecule proves that first-person is possible in LittleBigPlanet

Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet is not necessarily restricted by its genre. In a recent IGN UK interview, MM revealed that they could put the game into a first-person perspective. They illustrated the point by actually showing the game running in the view.

After doing this, Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans said, “there’s no reason why features like this could never make it.” His statement sort of echoed technical director David Smith’s earlier statement that “nothing [is] off the table” in regards to content that the community desires. He probably meant to omit penises and Mario, but we’ll let that slide for now.

The introduction of the Metal Gear Solid pack and its special item, the Paintball Gun, gives us an indication that FPS shooting is indeed a threat. If Media Molecule actually added the perspective, think of the creativity that would spark in the community. We could relive Doom – or at least a level that looks a hell of a lot like a Doom level.
