Max Brass brings the pain to ARMS on July 12

Taking to Twitter today, Nintendo announced that the final boss of ARMS, Max Brass, will be arriving on July 12. The commish, who has already mined three months worth of salt from this author, will also arrive with his own set of ARMS, along with the stage he’s fought on in Grand Prix mode.

Overall, he appears to be a complete beast in the ring.

The tools Brass has at his disposal make him appear to be a hybrid of Spring Man and Min Min, with a trait reserved for Mechanica and Master Mummy. He appears to be able to ‘flex,’ which in turn permanently charges both his arms, much like Min Min with her left arm, until he’s knocked down. However, he also increases in size while charged, giving him super armor much like the larger characters in the roster, but also loses that if he’s knocked down.

Once he’s below a certain amount of health, he permanently gains all of that, similar to Spring Man’s permanent charge once he’s below 25% health. It looks like he may have a variant of Spring Man’s deflection as well, but overall it looks like Max is getting the best parts of many characters’ kits, without anything to really cancel it out besides a larger hitbox.

Brass looks to be fun to play as, but he doesn’t quite have that spark of excitement to him. Perhaps it’s because we’ve already been able to play against him for nearly a month now, we’ve already seen what his stage and ARMS are, perhaps it’s because his abilities aren’t exactly unique. I’m more looking forward to the next character and their stage, which are currently a complete unknown.
