Mass Effect 3 used stock photo for big character reveal

[Obviously, everything written below could be considered a spoiler of sorts. Cease reading if a small picture of a face (or any reference to its existence) will ruin the game for you.]

As if Mass Effect 3 couldn’t get into hotter water with enraged gamers, fans of a particular character are even more furious. Players have an opportunity to find out what the masked Tali’s face looks like, but it seems some folk didn’t get what they hoped for.

The picture of Tali with her mask off (viewable later in the game) is a slightly reworked image of an existing stock photograph, as discovered by a number of Internet Sherlocks. Certain fans of Tali, who have been waiting to find out what she and her fellow Quarians look like, are rather disappointed that her grand unveiling revealed a secondhand face.

The fanbase at large seems to be split between those who feel insulted, and those wondering what the big deal is. Some are citing this as further evidence of BioWare’s sloppiness and disregard for fans, while more forgiving players believe this to be an inconsequential nitpick.

Do you think this is evidence of gross laziness, or is it an acceptable corner to cut? The comparison shot is located in our gallery.
