I’ve been playing Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on PS5 Pro and having an absolute blast, but the same cannot be said for my PC gamer brethren.

The FGC collab between ARC SYSTEM WORKS, PlayStation, and Marvel Games is off to a rocky start on Steam with a Mostly Negative rating and dwindling player numbers as the game’s performance issues and lack of Linux support has PC players in a tizzy, and I don’t blame any of them one bit.

Thankfully, the game is currently undergoing maintenance on PC for an update that “includes PC performance and stability improvements, including reduced lag and fixes for frame drops,” according to the prolific developer.

Performance issues have been a main complaint for players since the game dropped last Thursday, and it’s something that even affects players on PS5 when they’re matched with someone on PC, causing lag and desync and general trouble in online matches.

“One of the worsting[SIC] fighting game PC ports I’ve seen,” one of the top Steam reviews says. “It’s so bad that people are convinced that Sony sabotaged the pc port just so people would buy it on PlayStation 5.”

It’s a shame to see the PC version of the game in such a state, because the PS5 version is genuinely a blast. My review of the game should come some time later this week, but it’s been one of the more enjoyable fighting game experiences I’ve had in the past several years, even as someone with rapidly declining gaming skills.

Hopefully, when the server maintenance ends in a short while and the new PC version update is deployed, players can begin to experience the fun without any further issues. Because once you get the hang of the game’s tag mechanics and combo system, it’s truly a fun time.

Update on Aug. 10 at 3:15pm CT: After today’s patch, Steam reviews have already improved to “Mixed” with many players saying that the update fixed a lot of their performance issues. Enjoy the battle, PC friends.
