Ladies and gentleman, here is Hollywood’s Nathan Drake — Mark Wahlberg. The actor confirmed plans to star in the upcoming Uncharted film, based on Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed PlayStation 3 titles.
In an interview with MTV, Walberg gives an update on the production, based on a script written by David O. Russell, who is also set to direct the film.
“David is one of the best/writer/directors I’ve ever worked with,” Walberg said. “The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”
That insane idea also includes bringing Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro on board, playing Drake’s uncle and father, respectively. I had to check my Uncharted history books to confirm it, but this would be the first time Drake’s family had been introduced into an Uncharted story line.
Walberg seems pretty excited about the film, saying he hopes they’ll start filming next Summer.
