Mario Kart 8 Deluxe pips CTR: Nitro-Fueled to finish first in UK Charts

Although there is more than meets the eye…

Two years after its release, Nintendo’s kart racer Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is back at the top of the UK Charts, having overtaken rival title Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled to take the chequered flag for this week, at the very least.

The acclaimed Switch racer leads the charge of a successful week for Nintendo releases, which also saw Super Mario Maker 2, Super Mario Odyssey, and the Switch port of Minecraft all retain or re-enter Top Ten positions. Speaking of Minecraft, it’s important to note that, as the globally-popular build ’em up has different publishers on different platforms, it segregates the sales figures. Thus, Minecraft is actually the best selling game of both this week and last, but doesn’t make the number one spot because of its pantheon of different publishers.

Elsewhere in the charts, Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution debuted at number 10, while Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat 11 refuses to go gently into the night, making an almighty leap from number 40 all the way back up to number four! Cheers, Arnie.
