While he’s currently working in a creative director role to bring I Heart Geeks (a Fantastic Contraption-inspired puzzler for the Nintendo DS) to North America, Marc Ecko hasn’t forgotten his gaming past.

In a recent interview, Ecko told us he’s keen on a Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure revival.

“Getting Up was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears,” he said. “Atari shit the bed, you know? And I’m gonna f*cking make that game again if it kills me. I’m gonna do it. I want to see the brand out there again.”

The hold up, he says, is mostly tied up in a legal cobwebs with Atari. But he’s committed to making the follow-up a reality, despite the roadblocks.

“Imagine if given the opportunity in this market and the velocity of the market, and all the developments within the hardware,” he explained. “what we could do with that genre. I feel really confident that we can do something meaningful and fun, regardless of the rough around the edges road of getting it to the market.”
