MAG & SOCOM PS3 servers shutting down

‘You mean I won’t be able to play SOCOM 4 online anymore???’ someone might sadly say, maybe

With one deft tweet, fans of Sony’s exclusive strategical shooters might be disappointed. The official PlayStation Twitter announced that, “Online multiplayer services for MAG, SOCOM Confrontation, and SOCOM 4 will be ending on 01/28/14.” I remember being a bit let down when Medal of Honor: Rising Sun PS2 servers went away. Sad times. Servers are not forever, and I assume Sony’s going need all the servers it can wrangle to keep PS4 games running smoothly, especially now that multiplayer requires a PlayStation Plus subscription.

Oh MAG/SOCOM 4/SOCOM Confrontation, the pipes, the pipes are calling from glen to glen, and down the mountain side. The summer’s gone, and all the roses falling.

Anyone still play these three? I mean, I’m sure someone does, but, what about you, dear reader? Maybe plans to make a foray back to enjoy the last six months with them, reliving bright memories from years past, from a simpler, earlier time?
