Madcap! Mayhem! Robots! Robocalypse!

I have a soft spot for original IPs and adorable robots, so Vogster Entertainment’s Nintendo DS title, Robocalypse, has certainly caught my attention. The real-time strategy title is being designed exclusively for the Nintendo DS, and has some heavy talent behind its narrative — SpongeBob Squarepants writer/director Jay Lender is on board (along with Micah Wright … dude wrote the Sopranos game) to bring these zany robots some personality.

Vogster are also calling the title a “technological breakthrough,” which features “50 independently AI-driven units with advanced distributed path-finding, dynamic music, and stunning, 3D particle effects.” I guess all of that crap means the game is going to be fun, right?

“Our focus,” says the game’s director Michael Mendheim, “is on providing a simple pick up and play experience for the Nintendo DS that stays true to the genre, but incorporates comedic elements and smart gameplay to give it a distinct feel and style.”

More information on the title (including screens and some of the game’s key features) can be found over at the official Robocalpyse Web site. There, you’ll find info on the game’s “epic storymode” and “madcap weapons.” Can you handle the robot mayhem?
